Pinecone Sticker Card
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009This 3-d pinecone sticker was the third and final sticker on the sheet from Paper Bliss. (The first card is the ‘bear in a hot tub’, which I posted on December 15th and yesterday’s holly card was the 2nd).

I used lots of odds and ends on this card, as well ad embossing folders. If I can recreate the ‘bear in a hot tub’ using SCAL and my Cricut, I will surely be able to come up with a pinecone!
Today is cooler with a light snow. I’m thinking it should be a lazy day.

Holly Sticker Card
Tuesday, December 29th, 2009Remember awhile back I posted a Christmas card made with a CUTE “Bear in a Hot Tub” 3-d sticker? This Holly 3-d sticker was also on the sheet, and this is the card I made using it…

I was sick the week leading up to Christmas, and behind in everything anyhow. The flu put me WAAAAAAY behind and I could only do the things that were most important. Figuring out how to recreate the ‘bear in the hot-tub’ wasn’t on that list. However, I do have it started, so in the New Year I will be able to use my SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) to make up a couple. I’ll post when I have them done. LOL - I’ll be doing cartwheels if it works, ha ha.
There was one other sticker in that package so I will post that card tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by today!
Embossed Ornament Card
Monday, December 28th, 2009We watched the animated movie “UP” last night and I highly recommend it. What a great show - we laughed and giggled and gasped — and were thoroughly entertained. A great show for all ages … I may watch it again this afternoon!
Today’s share is a real CAS (Clean And Simple) Christmas card to share today, but I was very happy with it. I only made one of these ones (for our DD) but am going to make some up for next year. The ribbon is fine enough that it won’t buckle an envelope as long as I line the envelope with some cardstock first. I am always a little surprised at how nicely the Cuttlebug Embossing Folders work — they are just pure genius!

Flourished Holly Card
Sunday, December 27th, 2009I still have some Christmas cards to share, so will just keep posting them until I’m done. Then I will happily be onto something else!
I used some of the paper from that DCWV paper stack I’m not crazy about and it worked OK for these cards. The holly stamp is by Penny Blac, and the greeting is from a Stampin’ Up set. The whole reason I bought that set, ha ha … I love the font it’s done in.

Birdhouse Christmas
Saturday, December 26th, 2009Good morning! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We had a fun day at our house - and I am looking forward to spending some time this morning looking again at all the gifts I received. There are still some Christmas items to share, so here is a Christmas card done with my Cricut. The birdhouse is from the Birds and Birdhouses Collection at SVGCuts.com. There are such cute .svg’s on there and I’m looking forward to making some Spring cards using these birdhouses! Meanwhile, I pared this one with the Martha Stewart Cardinal punch and Stickles.
Here is the detail shot…
I made a second birdhouse cut out of green, and used the flourish from that cut in the cut out spot of the tan one, and the curvy frame is from the Storybook cartridge.

Pinecone Flourish Card
Thursday, December 24th, 2009Well our day has sure started with a BANG. I’m late posting this morning as we just got back from the Care Centre - Brandi’s eye has been acting up and we had to see Dr. Brian S. on Monday afternoon. He was concerned about her eye and wanted Dr. Christmas to check it today. What I didn’t know, was that they were actually ready to perform surgery on her TODAY had her eye pressure not come down on the meds! Honestly, when Dr. C said “Well it looks like we won’t have to do surgery today” my knees almost buckled. Her eye pressure is down enough that Dr. C said she should have a comfortable Christmas, and we will go back to see Dr. Brian in a month. I guess we are just going to have this ongoing battle.
I hadn’t given Brandi her medication before her exam, in case they needed to check her eye pressure without it - but had two of the bottles in my pocket so I could start her morning regime right after her exam. (The third one has to be kept in the fridge, so I left it at home). So I said I would just give her her first eye drops and both Dr. C and his assistant came around the corner to watch. Or I thought it was to watch, now I realize they thought I’d need help. But nope - Brandi just sits and I hold open her eyelid and drop in the medication. Then she gets a treat and it’s all done. The men were SOOOO impressed! They just said “WOW”, and the assistant said “THAT’S impressive!!”. Heather is laughing, as it’s not often our Brandi can impress someone with her behaviour, ha ha.
Onto today’s post - this is a card that is definitely nicer in real life than in photos. The flourish is stamped in a metallic flecked gold ink, the stickers have a metallic effect, and I used (my precious) copper Stardream cardstock for the scalloped panel.

You can see a bit of the shimmer in this detail shot:

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas - thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
Holly Christmas Card
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009This was one of the first cuts I made with my Comet’s Candy Land .svg package from SVGCuts.com, and SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot). The holly cut SO nicely - I was really pleased with it!
and a peek at the inside…
I used my Storybook cartridge to cut the curvy frames out at 2-1/4 and 2-1/2″. I am looking forward to after the holidays when things calm down a bit. There are so many fun cuts that I’d like to make up!

Christmas Sleigh & Gift
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009I had a lot of fun wrapping one of the gifts for my MIL this year. The Cricut is a great crafting machine, but it’s not all that straight forward and you often need to do test cuts to find out sizes. For instance the sleigh cuts the measurement ACROSS, not the LENGTH … but the something else might be sized with the length. So when I hit 7″ to cut the sleigh - the icon in the handbook looked like it would cut lengthwise - it was WAAAAAAAY too big.
I think ProvoCraft’s Cricut Design Studio might be an investment in the future, as you can lay out the images onto your virtual mat and SEE what the measurement is, and which direction it will cut. You can rotate and flip and weld, so … I’m adding it to my “Wish List”.
This sleigh turned out so well - I just love it. I cut the white piece separately and attached it then added tons of Stickles. I used a gold Krylon marker and coloured the runners, then added Stickles to them as well as a few Dew Drops. I cut the shadow twice - once out of black and once out of red. The black shadow was attached to the sleigh, the red one just around the outside bottom and sides. That made a nice little POCKET inside my sleigh!
And what does Santa’s sleigh carry? Well gifts of course! I cut the large present using the same method as the sleigh, although I scored a horizontal line on the red backing and applied adhesive above the score line. That allowed for a gift that opens like a card.
Inside is some $ wrapped in a strip of Christmas paperand a cute sticker…
I slid the gift into the sleigh, and wrapped the whole thing in a pretty cello bag with sparkly ribbon to tie it off. It looked SO nice - I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture! Anyhow, turns out G (who hand-delivered the gifts on a recent trip to Ontario) forgot to mention that I hand-made the gift holder, so she will have no idea I used my Christmas gift to make hers. I’ll fill her in on Christmas Day.

Scottie Gift Bag
Monday, December 21st, 2009This is the 2nd gift bag I mde from the new Christmas Gift Bags at SVGCuts.com I think that little Scottie is just so darned CUTE, I cut him an extra time to see about puttinghim on a card. I found just cutting the bag out of 12×12″ scrapbook paper was too flimsy for my liking. I ended up putting 2 rectangles of card stock on the inside front and back of yesterday’s Cardinal Gift Bag.
For this one, I made 2 cuts - once out of white lightweight 12×12″ card stock and once out of the red dotted 12×12″ scrapbook paper. Adhering them together is easy, as all the cuts match! It is now more like a box/bag - VERY sturdy!
I ran the scalloped circle through the “Tiny Bubbles” Cuttlebug embossing folder before attaching everything with adhesive and foam tape. This one is for our 2nd daughter, with a fun gift tucked inside. Love my Cricut - just love it. Remember to use any .svg files or computer fonts though - you need more than your Cricut and the cartridges … you also need SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) … which I’m also loving.
Thanks for stopping by today - Happy First Day of Winter!!! (Not that I think Winter is fabulous, but I LOVE this day as it means from here on in the days get LONGER not shorter). Woo Hoo!
