ATC - Perfect
Sunday, November 29th, 2009This is one of the ATC’s I sent to Sue … I was pleased with how it turned out.
It’s a busy day today - Larry Nielson (Konfident Kanines) is hosting a talk on “Dog Aggression”. It’s not all about aggression, it’s about a lot of different dog related subjects. But seeing if you have a dog you will deal with aggression at some point — say, an aggressive dog in an off-leash park — I know I will come home with some good information. I’m such a fan of his — just seeing how far I’ve been able to bring Cooper (with no treats!!) and how he helps us deal with our dogs in class — I don’t see how one can actually know enough.
Better run .. thanks for stopping by today.
Chipboard Butterfly - #1
Saturday, November 28th, 2009This is a similar card to one posted earlier this month … same patterned papers and sketch (SC192), but this one is a tall card where the other was a wide one. It does make a difference in how a card looks, even with some of the same elements!
The chipboard butterfly is from that fabulous pack by K&Co … I just love them. I used the flourished Cuttlebug embossing folder on the white panel below the butterfly, and the rest are just layers.

Cricut Vinyl Projects
Friday, November 27th, 2009I just realized I haven’t yet posted the pictures of the vinyl home decor projects I tried out!
The snowflakes turned out really well - they were easy to ‘weed’ (take out the negative pieces) and didn’t take a lot of coordination to apply. I was very pleased with them! All snowflakes cut from the Home Accents Cricut cartridge except for the bottom one on the top photo. I used a Sizzix die for that one.
This is actually the transon at the top of our front door. With a beautiful wood door, we didn’t want to be hammering nails in to hang a wreath or anything, so this gives the door a bit of ’special’ for the holidays. The tree was cut from Cricut’s Christmas Noel cartridge … and while it’s beautiful — it’s a PITA to weed. Maybe if it was larger - like 1 or 2 feet tall it would be easier. I am thinking of doing just that next year, making it as big as the machine will cut it and creating a piece of wall decor for the holidays.
I used inexpensive Mac Tac from Walmart for these first vinyl cuts, instead of the Cricut Vinyl. I want to be sure I know what I’m doing before I cut into THAT!
This little lamp from Ikea usually has a vellum slipcover on it. I change it out with the seasons, but this year I used one of the same vinyl trees as I used for the front door. It’s just SO pretty! (Same size as the front door one also). Here is the lamp turned on…

Pink & Green Card
Thursday, November 26th, 2009Yay - Sasha doesn’t seem to be leaking anymore, and her ‘cold’ seems better as well. Looks like the Amoxil is doing it’s job so I have happy, healthy doggies today. Oh, and last night was training class. Mr. Cooper did SOOOO well. We were to work on the ‘finish’ exercise. I could really care less about it - we aren’t doing Obedience Trials etc … but it was our homework and I like teaching him. I didn’t bother with the complicated leash wrapping and stepping back. We did it our own way and he understood it and performed it perfectly in class. (My version of perfect is different than an Obedience Trial judge, ha ha). He even drew a couple of “wows” from the other class participants! He also did a “DOWN” for me without any tugging on the leash or collar for the first time last night, so he is getting that too. YAYAYAY!!!!
This week is “STAND” (for examination), and we are going to work on our “DOWN STAYS”. I’m going to be making sure Brandi and Sasha are in on that one … they ‘STAY’ but never for very long. They break their own stays and I haven’t done much in the way of correcting them. That ends today.
I have a pretty card to post today:
Still green and brown, but I really like this peachy pink added in! The I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to add texture to the bottom portion of the panel, and hid the start of it with green grosgrain ribbon. The decorative label was cut with a Nestability die and I used a K&Co sticker. This one is blank inside so I can chose the sentiment when I chose the recipient!

Butterfly with Pearls
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009First off, the Big News. We had Brandi to see Dr. Brian yesterday and her eye pressure is 7 (down from 53). Which is absolutely fantastic news. But it gets better …
SHE CAN SEE!!!!!!!!! Yup - I couldn’t believe it. I am checking her almost daily for sight, so it must have just returned. It doesn’t even matter how WELL she can see … the fact that she can see obstacles will be huge for her and her safety. We were both thrilled. We are going to slowly cut back on the meds … one drop at a time and see how she does. Next check-up is 2 weeks from now.
Also, he felt that it was probably a ‘bump’ that caused the spike in eye pressure (glaucoma). Which is also GOOD NEWS. Way better than a congenital problem. Oh, it was a great visit for us at the C.A.R.E. clinic.
As far as Sasha’s leaking goes, the vet has started her on a hormone that should hopefully prevent it. Fingers crossed! She is happy today, as she is finally getting some real food again — in a normal amount. Poor girl wasn’t eating and has lost over 3 kg in the past 3 months. That’s a lot of weight for a dog.
For today’s post … a butterfly card. I made the chipboard butterfly by gluing decorative paper to chipboard and cutting it out with a Cuttlebug die. The paper was a bargain pack at Wal-Mart, and since I’m loving a green/brown colour combo these days I had to grab it.

Water Colour Iris
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009I love the look of water colour - always have. Getting this effect with stamps is so easy — simply colouring on the rubber with water soluble crayons then spritzing with water before stamping.
Brandi has an appointment with Dr. Brian today, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he has to say about her eye. I got my hopes up this weekend that she was regaining some sight, but I was wrong. There is nothing that she can see out of her left eye. She adjusted really well and quickly though, so things are going well in that department. Now, if we can only keep the Collie from leaking we will be all set. Sigh.

Trees in Silouette
Monday, November 23rd, 2009I have so many bits and pieces in my “In Progress” box … this is one that only needed to be mounted to a card to be finished. I found a pretty shimmer purple paper and was able to complete the card. It’s hard to see with the black background, but the whole thing is mounted to a black card.
Have a great week - thanks for stopping by today!
Get Well Sketch Card
Sunday, November 22nd, 2009This is a card I did for the SC251 sketch at Split Coast. I wish I’d kept the size of the matting for the main image the same as the bottom ones, so I’m counting this one as a ‘learning experience’.
I used ‘thumping’ for the tree image … inked it with a green Crayola marker, and ‘thumped’ it with a brown one before stamping. Nice variation in colours on the final image, but they don’t show up well in a low-res web photo. Tree stamp is from Stampin’ Up, words from Crazy Stamps, 3-D sticker is from K&Co.
Here is a shot of the inside … words from the same set as the tree image.
