Dry Embossed Daisy Card
Saturday, February 28th, 2009I thought this would make a great get-well card, with the bright colours. The verse was added after I took this picture - so unfortunately you can’t see the white linen paper insert. The basket, flower, leaves and snail were dry embossed using a light box and brass stencils.
I have lots and LOTS of scrapbook papers that I use for cardmaking. Remember my hoarding tendencies? I really wanted to USE some of it up before I bought new sheets, in fact - even thought I might be able to go through my whole stack before I bought new. Even then - I could just print some of my own digital papers when I needed some. Yeah - that idea didn’t work. I have a couple of new paper stacks and I’m LOVING them. The green background paper on the card is from one of the packages.
Oh well - I will keep trying to use up the older stuff – and at least I’m not hoarding anymore. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to bring myself to cut into the new paper sheets right away. I must be getting better!
On a side note … have you heard of “The Ride to Conquer Cancer“? This is a 200 km bike journey in the Rockey Mountains, June 27 & 28 2009. My son and his friends are going to participate in it, so are collecting sponsor donations to benefit the cause. They each have to raise $2500 to participate - so every little bit you can contribute will help. Remember what a worthy cause this is! I am so proud of these young men, undertaking something like this to help others. I wish I could give you a direct link to their team, but the site doesn’t seem to allow that.
Follow the above link to the main site, then click on Alberta below the main image. It may take a few seconds for the provinces to show up. On the left side, under “Welcome Visitors”, click on the DONATE button. (I’m trying to hotlink these just in case they start to work - try clicking directly on the DONATE link before you go to the main site link and see).
You will need to “Search for Participant” — type in SHAUN AICKEN and you will get to his ‘page’. Their team is Team Rainbow Trout. :-) If you click on the bright yellow “Sponsor Shaun Aicken” button that will take you to where you can make your donation. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and hopefully contribute to helping defeat the disease. I will be adding this to many of my posts between now and June, to help Team Rainbow Trout meet their goal and participate in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer“.
