Fourth Note Card

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Another card that is going into Gail’s gift box. This was such a quick and easy card, but it looks (and feels!) beautiful. The cardstock is embossed, and you just have to run your hand across it when you pick up the card. I’m also such a fan of sheer ribbons - it just seemed like a perfect fit. I lined the card with lightweight white cardstock, so Gail can write inside. It would be impossible to write on the reverse embossed surface otherwise!

I’m even working on a layout! I need a photo of my almost-recovered Brandi, and I will be able to upload it. Also, my Arizona photo book is scheduled to be delivered today, so I will be sure and post pictures of that as well. I can’t wait to see it!

Thanks for stopping by today - Happy Friday, everyone.

Third Note Card

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

BIG NEWS!!  Grammy is home from the hospital. Yeah! I picked her up around noon and handed her off to Pa at the condo. She was SO glad to be home again. Thanks to everyone for checking in on her and keeping her in your thoughts.

Onto “show & tell”, here is another one of the note cards I’m putting in Gail’s gift box:

Once again, I love the vintage look of the stamp.

I will be putting my “Create a Snowflake” kit on sale for 99 cents this weekend. Check out all the specials at our Nifty Boutique!

K&Co NoteCard 1

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I am going to have a bunch of cards similar to this to post. First of all, I HAD to play with my Nestabilities Labels since I waited almost 5 months for them. I found some cute K&Co stickers (I have to say, I’m still addicted to stickers) AND then I stumbled on some coordinating K&Co papers at Walmart.

I am leaving the insides blank, until I decide what I am going to do with these cards. I’ll end up with a nice stash to go to when I need a card to give or sell! I outlined the large label die cut with a gold Krylon marker, and the beautiful brown card is by Memory Box.

Grammy update: Still in the hospital — today is day eleven. Sigh. We are HOPING for a discharge today, but we’ve been saying that every day for a week. She has had her EKG and once the cardiologist checks it we think she can go home. I hate to even think that there might be something that shows up in the EKG that would keep her there longer, so we just won’t go there. Eleven days is long enough. She needs to get home and start learning how to live with the after effects of her stroke.

Easy Way Out

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I know I am a scrapbooker. However, I also know how limited my time is right now dealing with my parents etc. So I have taken the easy way out with it comes to our Arizona photos. You know I use a (BEAUTIFUL) iMac, and it has iLife. Which has iPhoto. I have ordered many hard cover books from iPhoto before - but usually I create landscrap layouts and import each layout as a full sized .jpg.

This time I just imported all my pictures into iPhoto, dragged and dropped the best ones onto the pages and hit send. Sometime this week the nice people at FedEx will hand me a beautiful hard cover book with our Arizina pictures in it. Done. No stress, just a little guilt, and done. I’ll post some pictures when I receive the book.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Second Note Card

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

This is another one of the note cards that are going in Gail’s gift box. There are fine glitter dots on the 3-d lilac sticker, but they don’t show up in the photo. I had the sheet of stickers for quite awhile, and was pleasantly surprised to find matching papers in my stash when it came time to create the card.

NoteCard2

It looks like Mom had a couple of visitors yesterday at the hospital, so that was nice. She’d be pleased … her bed radio doesn’t work and she didn’t order a TV. So it can get really boring! She is too unsteady to walk unassisted and they are unable to provide a walker for her. So she is pretty much stuck in either the bed, the little chair beside the bed or the bathroom. Neither of the three options provide much in the way of entertainment.

Remember to check out the specials at the Nifty Boutique, stay warm and thanks for stopping by.

First Note Card

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

We were up to the hospital to visit my Mom last night, and it looks like she will have to stay there all weekend. She was sure looking forward to getting home, but maybe on Monday. She had her MRI yesterday, so at least we will get those results soon. THAT will be a relief.

I said I would post a couple of the note cards that are going in the gift box for my friend Gail … here is the first one:

NoteCard1

I’m crazy abou the vintage look of this stamp, and even though I’m sure it can have several different looks - I stick with this one. Brown ink and soft pastel chalks for colour.

I have my “Winter’s Beginning” kit on sale for 99 cents this weekend, at our Nifty 99 sale. That’s 80% off!!

Note Card Box

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I give my friend Gail a set of nice note cards, when we do our annual “dinner out”. This year, I made a box to house the note cards in …

Note Card Box

Note Card Box - Inside

I used the 2 sided cardstock from Stampin-up (and their ribbon too) as I like how the box looks with the inside patterned as well. My Label Nestabilities finally arrived - I pre-ordered them at the end of August - so I used them to create the label decoration on the front of the box. It also holds the ribbon in place :-) I’m not sure why the blues are so different in the picture, because in real life they match really well!

I’ll post the note cards in later posts.

Brandi update:  We were to see  Dr. Skorobohach yesterday, for Brandi’s post-op check up. He thinks she is healing well, and doesn’t need to wear that plastic cone collar anymore! Well, as long as she doesn’t rub her eye, which she has not been doing. Still some inflamation in her eye etc, but all in all she still has her sight and he seemed pleased. We go back in 2 weeks for another checkup.

Grammy update: Mom is still in the hospital, now waiting for an MRI. She is in good spirits, missing her evening snacks,  FREEZING cold, but in good spirits.  Hopefully they will figure out what is going on so she can come back home. She will need to use a walker as she is very unsteady (because of the little stroke) and she is NOT impressed with this development.

Starting Small

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

I did get a few things done with my friends here yesterday. One of the items on my “wish list” was to make some everyday gift tags. Ones that would go with pretty much any gift bag or wrapping paper … so this is what I came up with:

Gift Tags

Simple and easy … I just used scraps of white cardstock and ran them through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder. Then trimmed and added to folded 2″ square gift tags. Colour can quickly be stippled or sponged on with ink,  when/if needed.
